It was finally the day Mr. Veer was going to Ruhi's house for their meeting as per veers request. Ruhi cooked delicious butter chicken, garlic nan, chilli chicken as starter and a sweet dish. She took an off today to shop and cook everything. She got a text from veer that he will be there in an hour. She quickly slipped in a knee length floral dress. Keeping her makeup minimal yet formal. She looked beautiful. She brushed her hairs a little when the door bell was heard. She gave herself a last glance before rushing towards the door.
She opened the door as soon as she did his warm smell hit her nose. She smiled at him before welcoming him in. He gave her a bouquet. She thanked him for that. She took a notice on him. He was wearing a crisp white shirts tugged in black jeans. His hairs perfectly jelled back.
They both walked into the drawing room as he took notice of her house. It was not very big looks like she lives alone. Her room smelled lavander just like her. There hung a family photo of hers in the wall. It looked old. She looked very young and smiling brightly in the photo. Her smile was genuine nowhere near the smile she gives him. A part of him wanted to see that smile in real. Another photo was with her mother. It was not that old but her smile looked changed not much but not as happy as in the last one. Another was a photo while receiving an award. She was just smiling not laughing. Her smile took drastic change over years.
He took notice in the shelf that had all her achievements. The trophies were shining bright. She had some small plants in her drawing room too. Her room was pastel green and white colored. Nice much different from her cold personality. He chuckled at his own thoughts.
"You have achieved alot Miss" he spoke admiringly.
"Thank you Mr. Veer. You are not less yourself" she spoke a little blush crept her cheeks from the appreciation. Veer found it cute. How nice will it feel to make her blush more. He liked the idea.
"Please sit. I will bring masala chai for you. Make yourself comfortable i will be back" she spoke as she made her way towards the kitchen. She poured some milk in the pot before turning the gas on and added tea leaves and sugar. Adding cardamom, ginger and rose leaves. She let it boil. The aroma of her masala tea hit Veers nose. He liked it. She poured the tea in two cups before placing them on the tray and taking it to him. She served him the tea. He thanked her before slowly blowing some air in order to cool it. He took a sip and heaven.
"Wowww, i haven't drank such delicious masala tea" he complimented her.
"Thank you" she said softly and passed him a small smile.
They both sat sipping their tea as they talked about their project. Few hours passed as they continued to talk. They were now on name bases dropping the formalities. He asked her about her parents she told him about them sadly. Though she tried to hide it but it was very evident in her eyes. He skipped the topic.
"Let's continue our chit-chat while eating." She spoke. He nodded.
"This way please wash your hands i will set the table" she informed him as she moved inside. He made his way towards the washroom.
She heated the food and started setting the table when a bell was heard. She frowned who was there at this time.
She made her way towards the door and opened it. A familiar face came in front of her she stilled what were they doing here. She gazed at them. They were glowing. Where as she looked beautiful but hollow.
"May we come in" Mayra spoke as she saw her staring at them.
Ruhi came out of her daze before moving aside and letting them in. They both sat. but she was still standing.
"What is it" she asked her gaze was stern.
"Ruhu we are here to thank you. We are really thankful to you. Because of you our son has fully recovered and back with us. Thank you so much. I knew you wouldn't refuse to help us" Mayra spoke thanking her.
"Is that it. Well i am not cruel like you both to let an innocent heart die" ruhi said coldly.
Abhishek and Mayra understood her hidden meaning in the statement.
"We-we are genuinely sorry ruhu, we are really ashamed about it" Abhishek said.
"What's ruhu huh. My name is ruhi and Miss Ruhi for strangers. And if you both are done with whatever you wanted to say the door is open. I have a guest to attend" she spoke trying to remain calm. There words were making her angry.
"Ruhi, where did you--" Veer came out of the washroom and walked towards the dinning table but saw it empty. He heard some voice from the drawing room. He made his towards it and halted when he saw Abhishek.
"Hello Mr. Malhotra" he moved forward as they shook hands.
Ruhi was annoyed now.
"Hello Mr. Veer. Mayra meet Mr. Veer the trending headline and Mr. Veer meet my wife Mayra" Abhishek introduced them.
A punch was felt in ruhi's heart. The way she was addressed is now used for other.
"What bought you here Mr. Veer" Abhishek asked.
"Oh we had some things to discuss about the project" veer spoke in his deep voice. Abhishek nodded in understandment.
"What about you" Veer asked.
"We actually came to thank Miss ruhi" Abhishek said.
"You are done now Mr. Malhotra. You both can leave. We have work" ruhi's voice was chilly as ice.
"Ruhu please we are sorry, please forgive us. We know we did wrong. We even tried to push each other but the attraction was undeniable. You said it right. We can't help with whom we fall with. We are sorry" Mayra said.
"I don't care whatever it is. Leave, don't create a scene infront of my guest" Ruhi said.
"Please ruhi Mayra is very guilty about it. And i am too. We are genuinely sorry we--" Abhishek tried to say.
"How shameless are you both. I said leave don't you both understand a single thing. I have work and i am least interested in your apology. Cheating can never be defined so don't give me your shitty explanation. Get the fuck out. And if you are really so sorry then do me a favor never show me your faces again" Ruhi spoke she was mad, what were they trying to explain. The fuck will she do with their sorry.
"You have changed ruhu, the ruhu we knew was never this rude" Mayra spoke sadly.
"Get out--" ruhi was cut off when
"Let them explain ruhi" Veer said.
"Mind your own business Veer. And explain what. Cheating is never a mistake it is always a choice. Don't ruin my meeting here. My work is much important than both of your ungrateful explanation. I don't give a single fuck about your lifes. OUT RIGHT NOW" Ruhi spoke authoritatively her eyes challanged them to defy her. Their head hung low as they made their way towards the door. Sighing there is no way she was going to forgive them.
Ruhi took deep breaths to calm herself down her mood was totally ruined but she can't disappoint her guest.
"Sorry Veer you had to see that. Let's have dinner." She said and quickly moved towards the dinning table leaving no chance for Veer to speak.
They both sat for having dinner when Veer advised to play some soft music to which she agreed not in the mood to argue more. Veer served himself as they both started to eat. Veer was impressed was the aroma when he took the first morsel he was a goner for her hand made food now. How lucky her husband would be.
"Damnnn heaven Ruhi. I haven't eaten such scrumptious food from so long. Goddd you have magic in your hands" Veer said moaning at the taste of food.
Ruhi was flustered from the complement.
"Thank you Veer. You are exaggerating alot it's not that good" she replied softly.
"Woah girl. Never look down on yourself. Your dish is billion worth" he spoke excitedly. Looks like he was a foodie.
"You liked it so much. I will cook for you whenever I get time." She told him
"I would be grateful ruhi. I am really in love with your cooking" he said.
"Thank you. Please have some more" she served him some more chicken.
He ate like a kid in sugar rush.
They talked a bit while eating ruhi's mood was back to normal all thanks to his childish self. They finished having their dinner. Ruhi was going to wash the dishes when he insisted to help her. She refused but atlast agreed.
They finished washing the dishes and walked back to the drawing room. The music was still playing in the background. Veer turned towards her
"Would you like to have a dance with me Miss Ruhi" he asked teasingly.
"I would have if a prince charming will ask" she teased him too. He frowned not understanding her words but realisation hit him. He darted a fake glare towards her.
"Are you saying i am not handsome huh" he spoke acting hurt.
"I didn't said that did i" she liked teasing him now.
"You--" as he ran to catch her. She laughed wholeheartedly as she ran. He caught her. And spinned her around she laughed putting her hands on his shoulder. He gazed at her laughing face.
As he put her down they both started dancing like a couple. The light was dim. The soft music doing wonders. His hands placed on her waist as he held her firmly.
After sometimes she placed her head in his chest. Listening to his heartbeat. It felt calm. She fitted perfectly in his arms as if meant to be there.
"I like your warmth, comfy" she mumbled feeling dizzy in his warmth.
"That's nice" he muttered softly.
They both were in their own world the ring of the call bought them out. They parted away. As she awkwardly stood there gazing at the ground. He attended the call. It was time for him to leave.
"Thank you so much for dinner i enjoyed it alot." He said she nodded her head in acknowledgment.
"And you dance so beautifully. I was honoured to dance with this beauty" he said in hushed whisper as he stepped closer to her and tucked her baby hairs behind her ear.
"You are looking breathtakingly gorgeous Ruhi" he stared at her lovingly making her feel timid under his gaze.
"T-thank you. You look good yourself. I had a great time" she mumbled in low voice for him to hear. His closeness was affecting her.
"Good night ruhi see you at work" he said as he made his way towards the door.
"Good night. Drive safe" she said softly. He smiled at her.
It went unnoticed by her that how easily he can change her mood. She enjoyed his company. She was having dinner with someone after a long time. It has been a while since she cooked a proper meal. She liked it.

They got closer while working. They were friends now. Veer left no chance to make her laugh. Even without herself knowing it she was glowing in his presence. Vivek noticed it well. She looked happy after long. Veer liked her he wanted to bring the woman back the happy one. He would do anything for that. They routine was fixed they would talk about work and have some funny time together. She used to cook food for him. He would gobble it down like an excited kid. Everything thing was going good. Abhishek and Mayra didn't approached her after that night. She was grateful. She needed to let go the past now. The moment he introduced Mayra as his wife was the point of realisation for her.
It's been a whole month now their friendship grew. Veer would generally brag in her office grabbing some tea or coffee. He was scared that she might find it annoying but she was not. She was happy because of his nature. She sometimes wondered how can this scary looking man be so childish.
Everything went smoothly until one day Veer asked her out on a date. He asked her to like a gentleman but ruhi went quite. She didn't saw that coming.
Now she was pacing in her cabin. It was their date night today.and she doesn't know what she should do. Veer deserves someone better than her. She was no match for him. She thought for a while before an idea popped in her mind. nodding at herself she executed the plan.

Veer was waiting for Ruhi he has booked table for themselves and was now waiting for her. It was quite weird as he was never late. Though it was just 15min but she never did it. Scolding himself thinking she might be caught in traffic he shook his thoughts away. Another 15 min passed now he called her but was surprised to see a girl rushing towards him.
"I am sorry Mr. Veer. I am late" the girl said. Veer gave her a confused look as if she was talking to him. She understood his confusion.
"I am Divya Rana. Nice to meet you" she held her hand out for a handshake.
"I am Veer Rajput. Uh where is ruhi" he asked as he shook her hand.
"Uh ruhi got caught up with some urgent work. So she asked me to go on her place" she said apologiticily.
"Oh she should have informed me. Please have a seat Miss Divya." He kept his face straight. But he was hurt deep inside. He wanted to go on a date with her If she was busy she should have told him. They would have planned it for other day. Now he can't ask Divya to leave.
"What would you like to order" he asked formally. He was stuck he couldn't do anything now.
She ordered for herself and he did for himself. The food arrived as he was eating silently but Divya the chatterbox didn't shut her mouth. She tried to make conversation first but he didn't so she started telling him and he would just nod or hum mindlessly.
The night passed by as they both parted away. His mood was ruined. It was his first time asking a girl to go on a date. Usually girls throw themselves on him. This time it took him a lots of courage to ask her out and she did this. He immediately called her as he reached home.
"You should have told me if there was an urgent work. I would have postponeded the date. This was not right Ruhi" he spoke sternly showing her his anger.
"I-i know Veer it was so sudden but how's Divya. You liked her. Such a chatterbox she is. She will never let your get bored." Ruhi said as she chuckled nervously.
"This was not expected Ruhi. And i wanted to go on a date with you not with Divya" he said sadly
"Ah i am sorry" she apologized.
"It's alright, we can go on another date. I will wait for you at xyz place. On 25th. I will not take no as an answer as you already dumped me once" he said jokingly.
"Heyy!! I didn't dumped you. I was busy" she grumbled adorably.
"Okie okie miss lets meet on 25th" he said leaving no place of argument. They wished their byes and hung up the call.
Now ruhi was tensed again. She needed another girl.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On 25th
Veer was again waiting for her. He swear if this time she didn't show up. He will knock some brain in her thick skull. He called her again but she didn't picked up.
His anger knew no limits when he saw another girl in his place. that was it. He politely asked the girl to leave as he was going somewhere else. He called Vivek to confirm whether she was in the office or not. She was at home he said. He drived straight to her house. And banged the door like an impatient man. He heard her soothing voice as she yelled at the person banging the door.
Her words got stuck on her throat when she saw Veer looking like a raging Bull.
She stepped aside and asked him to come in. Soon she was pinned to the near by wall.
"What was that huh" Veer asked angrily.
"W-what are you talking about. M-move away" she tried to speak.
"Damn it Ruhi. If you have work just tell me. What's the point of sending other girls" he asked feeling frustrated.
"I- actually I felt she is the perfect match for you and she was just like your type-" she was cut off.
"How did you know she is perfect for me huh. How did you know she is my type" he questioned her.
"She is young, successful, pretty, talkative, understanding,-" she was again cut off by the bang on wall.
"I wanted to go on a date with you ruhi. You have all the qualities you are counting on her. But i don't want her. I want you. Is this hard for you to understand the sentence" he spat angrily. Now she was getting angry. Why doesn't he understand.
"Because she is not a divorcee like me Veer. I am divorcee. A used person. You deserve someone who is perfect for you,who is pure, untouched only for you, you don't need a divorcee like me. Can't you understand that" she also said angrily. Realisation dawned him she was insecure.
"Ruhi i don't care if you are a divorcee or not. It will never matter to me. And what bullshit are you saying huh pure unpure what shit is that." He said.
But she just shook her head looking away. He sighed before grabbing her hand and walking towards the sofa. He made her sit as he got down in his knees.
"Rooh listen to, i just want you. I know you are perfect for me in every way. I knew the instant i held you in my arms. I knew it when you yelled at me for the first time. I know what i want rooh." He said softly as he palmed her face in his hands. He caressed her cheekbones. She unconsciously leaned to his touch. Rooh the way it slipped his tounge was so soothing. She would love to hear it. Usually people give her alots of nickname but this is going to be her favourite. The way the sounded she liked it.Veer noticed it. He smiled at the effect.
"You don't understand Veer. You are just attracted to me nothing else. The moment the attraction will go away you will leave me. See Veer you have a whole life ahead of you. You can make any girl fall for you. This attraction will go away" she spoke trying to make him understand. Her words fueled his anger.
But he maintained his calmness.
"I do not want any girl rooh, i want you. I just want one chance to prove myself please. Look into my eyes do they lie. This is not an attraction ruhi. I am mature enough to differentiate between attraction and love. I want my whole life to be spent with you. I can never ever leave you rooh. Please i just need one chance. Don't push me away". he pleaded. His eyes screamed truth. He was not lying.
She looked away unable to take the intense gaze.
"Fine you have 20 dates. If i still felt that it's just your attraction and if you won't be able to convence me. Then you will not come after me promise me" she spoke defeatedly.
"You won't get the chance but okie promise. I know i can do it but please don't send other girls. I want a date with you" he grinned like a child. She laughed at his childishness.
She sighed thinking about him. She knew he will leave her like Everyone did how can he not. He has just seen the businesswoman Ruhi not the real broken ruhi. But she won't regret giving him a chance when he is so persistent. She nodded herself. Only if she knew she is going to be proved wrong.
